Feeding our Regional Food Banks

Investing in the communities where we live and work is a hallmark of Webster’s history. Our values-driven, community-minded bankers strive to support at-risk populations by working with organizations to bring the greatest impact.

In January 2018, Webster augmented its annual philanthropic budget by $1 million to accelerate its investment in the communities we serve. This acceleration resulted in several new initiatives including the Food Security Initiative: Feeding our Regional Food Banks.

With a focus on summer food security to fill backpacks and make sure all tables are full, this new program provides grants to all Feeding America Regional Food Banks across our footprint. Since 2018, we’ve awarded $300,000 helping our partners to remain laser focused on efficient delivery to address food scarcity. This program and the investment provide over 1 million meals a year.

Grants include capital grants for job training initiatives and backpack programs to secure food for children who are without access to the free lunch program during the summer. Our focus on basic needs with a dedication to making sure no one goes hungry is at the forefront of this funding.

Grants are made in September during End Hunger Month and this, in combination with Webster’s deep sense of volunteerism, gives bankers the opportunity to offer time, energy and passion where it is needed most in our communities.

Applications for the Food Security Initiative: Feeding our Regional Food Banks are by invitation only. Inquiries can be made to commaffairs@websterbank.com.
