Corporate responsibility
Our recent merger with Sterling National Bank has increased our capabilities and scale, allowing us to build on both companies’ long-standing records of citizenship, sustainability and responsibility. As part of these efforts, we have established the Office of Corporate Responsibility (OCR).

What we do
Reflecting our shared values of integrity, collaboration, accountability, agility, respect and excellence, the OCR manages all community-facing activities across the company, including Supplier Diversity; CRA and Fair and Responsible Banking; Community Investment, Engagement and Philanthropy; Government Relations and Public Affairs; and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) efforts.
Led by Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer Marissa Weidner, OCR partners with Human Resources to drive our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) efforts. OCR also provides oversight of Community Engagement and Philanthropy programs related to Webster's Business Resource Groups.
Our commitment
Community Service
We are committed to making an impact in the communities in which we live and work. We are proud that our Webster colleagues share their time, talents and leadership with neighboring nonprofits.
Philanthropy
We believe it is important to create opportunity and build economic vitality in the communities where we live and work. We do this by making grants within specific funding pillars to help low/moderate-income individuals and families.
Community Investment
Our CRA lending and investments champion affordable housing; neighborhood revitalization; economic development; and accessible financial services for those in need.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging
We believe that diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) is critical to our growth and success as a leading regional bank.
Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)
Dedicated to sustainability, equity and transparency, Webster supports the communities we serve in meaningful ways.
Supplier Diversity
Webster is committed to ensuring our supplier relationships support our focus on corporate responsibility. We are developing new supplier selection standards to promote diversity, equity and inclusion.
"Outstanding" CRA rating
Our most recent Community Reinvestment Act Performance Evaluation resulted in an “Outstanding” rating, the highest possible, as awarded by our primary regulator, the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Our Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) public file and HMDA notice are your resources for more information on the communities we serve.
