Responding to a need to optimize cash flow
“The exciting part is that we were growing. The scary part is that we were growing.”
– John Kelly, Fusion Design Consultants

Client background
John Kelly is the owner and founder of Fusion Design Consultants, a Boston-based firm specializing in interior architecture and commercial real estate branding. Fusion started out of John’s South Boston apartment and had grown to 20 employees in a building he now owned. John had taken his vision to a reality and now was faced with the realization that continued growth would need a sustainable strategy.
The Moment
John needed to secure his cash flow while freeing up capital for potential opportunities. After interviewing several banks as a possible financial partner, John found a perfect fit with Webster Bank.
Our response
Webster started by listening to what mattered most to John and Fusion Design. It was determined that the priorities were cash flow optimization and operational efficiencies. Now, Webster could respond with solutions tailored to Fusion’s needs, including:
- A higher business line of credit to address lagging receivables and enable Fusion to capitalize on new opportunities.
- Automated solutions to create operational efficiencies with Webster Deposit-Link and Web-Link streamlining business deposits.
- Automated solutions to improve the speed of receivables with Webster’s remote deposit capture system.
The results
Fusion continues to grow and has room to hire up to 30 people. Its operations are aligned with its growth goals for the next five years and beyond.
