Rapid growth, rapid response
“Webster really took the time to understand where we had been and where we were going with the business. We clearly meant more to Webster than just a snapshot of our balance sheet.”
– Christine West, KITE Architects

Client background
KITE Architects, based in Providence, Rhode Island, is an architectural design firm specializing in sustainable design, urban sites, and historic and mid-century modern buildings, ranging from custom residences to university buildings. Owner Christine West has been steadily adding staff to accommodate her growing business but she had outgrown her space.
The Moment
Christine was clear on her vision; a new headquarters that would be large enough for her growing staff and a showcase for her firm’s approach to design. When putting together her checklist for a banking partner, Christine knew she needed a bank that would understand her business, its potential and the need for a timely decision. Webster Bank checked all the boxes and the fact that Webster and KITE shared deep commitments to community involvement was icing on the cake.
Our response
Webster dug deep into KITE’s business history and operations to develop a real appreciation for KITE’s present and future. Webster’s response included:
- Flexible access to cash through an extended Webster Business Line of Credit.
- An improved cash management system, including a business checking account and credit card.
- Assistance with an SBA 504 loan to purchase the space that would become their new office.
The results
KITE was able to purchase a business condominium that enabled the firm to grow. The architects transformed the space into an impressive headquarters that highlighted the firm’s design capabilities. Plus, the relationship with Webster continued to blossom through their shared affinity for community involvement. KITE’s clients include The Steel Yard – a non-profit organization that provides welding and artisan training – along with Rhode Island College and Brown University.
