We made our website better 1 year ago. Here's what we've learned.
Google recently updated its search logo to display better on multiple screen sizes. Wait, we did that a whole year ago!
Yep, it’s been a year since we launched a brand new home page for Webster Bank. The new site is special – it can be viewed easily on any screen size, right down to your smartphone. In techno-speak, this is called a “responsive” design. We did it so that you could find us and learn about us wherever you were. Many other banks don’t do that.
Why? Because we have a ton of creative people here who actually love using technology to provide great experiences for our customers. Nothing thrills our technology teams more. We will continue to prioritize our digital capabilities to help you reach us from wherever you are. The website redesign was a big part of that.
So what have we learned in a year? For one thing, you are searching and finding us from mobile, more often than desktop or laptop. We realize that your smartphone is increasingly your main “screen.” If you are looking for something that we can help with, we’re glad we can help you right then and there – not make you go to a computer or remember to find us again later.
Speaking of finding things, we decided that our homepage could do a better job of linking to our products and services, and so our team has changed that a bit. You’ll notice a new area of content under our main banner that contains links to every main area of the site.
We also wanted to share more helpful information from our blog, the Bank Roll. The new design, with blog content in the center of the home page, and woven throughout the other pages, has improved traffic to those articles. We’re happy that more people are discovering and using this helpful content.
We’re already planning the next big improvements, and we’d love to hear your thoughts on how we can make Webster more accessible. Please leave us a comment and let us know!
