Karen Higgins-Carter is Executive Vice President, Chief Information Officer of Webster Bank (NYSE: WBS), a leading commercial bank with more than $60 billion in assets. She is responsible for Webster’s technology, cybersecurity and data strategy. Karen is an expert in digital experience design, process re-engineering, cloud and technology modernization, and data and analytics architecture. In this role, she is leading the design and implementation of the Bank’s technology and data strategy and the technology integration to enhance the organization’s digital competitiveness helping to drive efficiencies and improve the customer experience.
As a career technologist, Karen has extensive experience in financial services and banking technology transformation, leading change in regulated industries, and creating organizational agility in diverse cultural contexts. Before joining Webster in 2018, she designed and led parallel information and cyber risk management programs at Bridgewater Associates, JP Morgan, GE and MUFG.
Karen is a graduate of Lafayette College and holds both a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering and Bachelor of Arts in economics and business. She is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and participated in leadership development programs at GE for 14 years. She is the executive sponsor of Webster’s Women’s Initiative Network (WeWIN).
